The billboards caught my attention. The reviews are great. I just watched the trailer. This TV Show, capitolizing on the comic book fad, looks really good!

I remember that one now. The wife usually hijacks the PM TV for Law & Order, so I don't get much network stuff in, but it did look worth tuning in for. I gather it's airing then? Anyone actually seen it?

Well i don't know how GOOD it looks..
But it is qool someone from TV stole one of the better 'comic' ideas...

Hope they have a good budget, and writing... It's a premise that could really b good, if done right....

Wonder when it starts exactly... it's gotta be soon.....

U know what.. u can get the premeiere episode on iTunes, if u buy something somewhere... i dont remember what..., it's like bottletops or something....

I'm looking forward to watching it. Looks like I'm either taping this or wrestling on Mondays.

Thanks to my friends & co-workers Mike and Joann for the above link. A serious nod to Yahoo! & NBC.

I'm watching the first episode right now. I'm half-way through it. I am SO into this show. I've already decided to buy the dvd boxed set as soon as it's available!

The writers earn one demerit for a faulty X-Men reference.

You know that excitement you felt during the early part of the Dark Phoenix saga... when Dazzler and Kitty were first introduced? That's what I'm feeling watching this show. It's written very well. The characters' individual stories are woven together like the best of Claremont/Byrne ... from Iron Fist to Marvel Team-Up to Uncanny X-Men. OK. No more fan-boy gushing from me.

                    Now it has.

It was pretty decent for the most part.

Can Marvel sue? It was pretty much a fake X-Men, right down to the next generation of genetic homo-superiors. Sheesh!

Or maybe you can say it was a mix between the X-Men and the old DP7 series, (anybody remember that?) Either way, I think Stan's got a case.

That being said, I did enjoy it, hoperfully they keep up the good work.

No, they can't considering Stan Lee based The X-MEN on a sci-fi book from the 1950's called "The Mutants" Marvel comics does not own the right or trademark to the concept of "genetically altered people" it's something that one can get by on under fair use. You can't copyright abstracts, you can however copyright names, and secret origins, and other types of stuff.

Basically this show, while very good is sort of a dramatic take on the short lived 1980s show "Misfits Of Science" which was a really cute show I wish they'd put back on syndication. Bunch of unlikely people joined together with the discovery of unique powers, teaming up to fight weird mad scientist types.

Although, if you want to go into a comic book paralel, this storyline seems a bit more "New Teen Titans" than the X-MEN. Because the threat they were "born" to face, kind of reminds me of Trigon.

DP7 was a REALLY NEAT PREMISE put forth in a HORRIBLE COMIC!!!
But my opinion aside, that's a REALY COOL REFERENCE, Devastator.
Old-School Titans reference makes a bit of sense to me too.
Even if I don't catch it every week ,I'm sure it'll be fun to watch when I DO see it
(which is what I tought of the first two episodes by the way).

I guess I was the only idiot buying those New Universe comics way back when, except you Gyro, who apparently bought at least 1. I liked DP7 in the beginning, it just went downhill after a while. Courtney Cox was in Misfits of Science, man that was a long time ago, wow!

Starbrand, DP7, Psi-Force... those were my favourite New Universe titles. The Pitt was pretty good, too.

I Liked New Universe for about a month....but then once I got turned on to WATCHMEN, NEXUS and DARK HORSE COMICS PRESENTS,
I couldn't turn back to it....But the characters certainly had a lot of POTENTIAL, though....
