Grant Morrison and the Wildstorm Relaunch

Apparently, everybody's favorite psychedelic cue-ball, Grant Morrison is going hogwild for Wildstorm, he's going to be writing several books for the imprint.

Yesterday I picked up issue #1 The Authority but haven't had a chance to read it yet. I actually skipped on WildC.A.T.s, since I never really got into the concept from the beginning.

He's doing some other books but I forget what.

I guess the whole Wildstorm universe is being relaunched, did anybody read those books before, will you be reading the new versions?

Nothing happened! I read Authority and WIldcats. It seems both of themwere just build up to some larger event. I am done with "huge events" We didn't even get to see the authority. I'll stick with the authority for a while- I'll check out midnighter next week and forget the rest. There was nothing in them that I found interesting or compelling.

I'll stick with it, me. I trust Grant's record, and I'm sure he's leading to something.

W.I.LD.Cats was always lame, and in my old age, I'm starting to find Jim Lee's style sketchy and grating, but COME ON! Grifter? Narrating himself in German? Who hasn't done that? It's great.

The Authority looks better. Grant used those characters in the issue of the Invisibles where he went back through the life of an otherwise faceless goon that King Mob killed breaking in to some installation.

Midnighter didn't grab me right away. With Ennis, that's a bad thing. His stories either start at 100 mph (The Boys), or never really get going (Battler Briton).

Wetworks couldn't be worse, so far. Portacio has gorgeous design skills, but NO idea how humans move, and is far too fond of the india ink. I loved Lucifer, but Carey just doesn't write superheroes as well.

I'm loving Gail Simone's Gen 13, so far. I'm a big fan of hers and the art is reasonably good, too.
